Rustins Quick Dry Outdoor Clear Varnish is a quick-drying, durable, clear coating which gives a long lasting protection to all external wood, including doors, window frames, garden furniture and more. It can also be used as a sealer for concrete.
It is a water-based acrylic wood varnish, available in gloss satin and matt finishes, and in a range of container sizes. It gives long lasting protection to all external wood, allowing the natural grain to show through.
Rustins Quick Dry Outdoor Clear Varnish is a low odour, quick drying, non-yellowing formula. It resists cracking, peeling and blistering. The varnish has very little effect on the colour of the timber that it is applied to. It is touch dry in 30 minutes, and re-coatable in 4 hours.
Apply liberally using a synthetic brush. Apply 3 coats and lightly sand after the 1st coat if there is raising of the grain. Coverage is approx. 12-15sq.m per litre, 1 coat, depending on absorbency of surface. For detailed application instructions, see 'technical details' below.
For best results, re-coat every 2-3 years. Clean with a mild detergent solution and lightly sand to provide key.
Available in Gloss and Satin in 250ml, 500ml, 1 litre and 2.5 litres. Also available in Matt finish 250ml, 500ml and 1 litre.

Preparation: Surfaces must be clean, dry and free of wax, grease and contaminants, smooth and sound. Fill large cracks, open joints and damaged areas with a high quality flexible filler. Wash oily woods, knots or resinous areas with white spirit. Remove mould, lichens, algae & moss with brush, scraper & domestic bleach, then rinse thoroughly and allow to dry. Rustins Wood Dye may be applied to bare wood prior to varnishing.
Application: Using a synthetic brush, apply liberally with a full brush finishing with the grain. The first coat may be diluted with water on hot days (up to 15%). Do not apply to hot surfaces or in strong sunlight if possible or if rain is likely.
Coats: Apply 3 coats and lightly sand after 1st coat if there is raising of the grain.
Drying Time: Touch dry 30 minutes. (On hot days may be touch dry within 10 minutes).
Re-coating Time: 4 hours minimum, depending on temperature & humidity.
Application Temp.: Ideally 15-25°C. Do not apply below 10°C, or in high humidity or if rain expected.
Coverage: 12-15sq.m per litre, 1 coat, depending on absorbency of surface.
Maintenance: Re-coat every 2 to 3 years. Clean with a mild detergent solution and lightly sand to provide key.
Compatibility: May be applied over old existing coating if these are in good condition and rubbed down to provide a key. Coatings not in good condition should be removed with Rustins Strypit Paint and Varnish Stripper. If applying over wood preservatives test on a small area to ensure the varnish dries and adheres well.
Settlement: STIR WELL BEFORE USE. May dry glossy if not adequately stirred.
Shelf-life/Storage: Many years if stored in original, tightly closed container in normal conditions. PROTECT FROM FROST.
Hazards: Non-flammable. avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothes.
Clean-Up: With water whilst still wet. If dried-on, clean equipment & brushes with Rustins Brush Restorer.
Goods Return Procedure
At Trade Gear Limited (trading as Outdoor-Style.co.uk), we strive to offer excellent customer service. We want to make your rights as a consumer and our procedures as clear as possible. We want to make it as easy as possible for you to cancel/return orders or report faulty/missing products.
Right To Cancel Order & Return Goods
Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations (which replaced the Distance Selling Regulations), you have the right to cancel your order and return the goods for a refund within 14 days of receiving the goods, without giving a reason. (Bespoke and perishable products are excluded).
You must have your receipt and the goods must be in new, unused and undamaged condition, with all packaging.
To exercise your right to cancel, you must clearly inform us via email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or post (Suite 16 Stanley Grange, Earl of Derby Estate, Liverpool, L34 4AR) of your decision to cancel the contract, within the 14 day cancellation period.
To meet the cancellation deadline, it is sufficient for you to send the communication before the cancellation period has expired.
Order Cancellation & Returns Process
If you choose to exercise your right to cancel, you will need to bear the direct cost of returning the goods. This may involve either posting the goods yourself or paying a collection charge.
We will inform you of the returns address in our communication to you. This is separate to our registered office address. Please do not send goods to our registered office address, as this is our administration office, not where returns are processed. If you send goods back to our registered office address, the returns process may be delayed and you may be charged for carriage to send the goods to the correct address.
We will reimburse to you all payments received from you, including the costs of delivery (except for any supplementary costs if you chose a delivery option other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us). We may make a deduction from the reimbursement for loss in value of any goods supplied if the loss is the result of unnecessary handling by you.
We will refund you within 14 days of returning the items.
Reimbursement will be made using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless expressly agreed otherwise.
Faulty & Missing Products
If you discover, upon receipt of your order, that the goods are damaged, please notify us straight away by sending a photo and description to email@example.com. On receipt of the goods, they will be inspected to check for the fault. If agreed to be faulty, we can either repair or replace the goods under warranty or we can refund the amount to your account. If however we do not find the goods to be faulty, they will be returned to you at your cost.
If an item or component is missing, please locate the product name on our website, on your order confirmation or in the assembly instructions and notify us via the above email address. We will endeavour to resolve any issues as soon as possible by replacing or supplying any damaged or missing goods free of charge.
