Rustins Door Oil is a mixture of natural vegetable oils, waxes and resins dissolved in white spirit, designed for coating bare internal wooden doors and joinery to give an attractive, durable clear satin finish.
The oil brings out the natural beauty of the wood and makes wood colours become richer and warmer, while leaving a hard wearing, water and stain-resistant finish to the woodwork.
This wood oil is suitable for use all kinds of bare internal woodwork subject to a high degree of wear such as doors, floors, skirting boards, worktops, balustrades and more.
Rustins Door Oil is very easy to apply and maintain. Apply it evenly to the bare wood using a brush or roller, in the direction of the grain. Apply a minimum of 2 coats initially. Coverage is approx. 20 – 30 sq. m. per litre, depending on the nature of the wood. For detailed application instructions, see 'technical details' below.

Intended Use: For internal wooden doors and joinery.
Special Features: Brings out the natural beauty of the wood. Makes wood colours become richer. Easy to apply and maintain; leaving a wear, water and stain resistant finish to woodwork
Preparation: The wood must be bare, or sanded clean of any previous coatings. The wood must also be smooth, dry and free from wax, dust and surface contaminants. Remove any waxes present with Rustins Surface Cleaner and a scouring pad. Wipe off residues with clean rags. Oily timbers such as Teak or Iroko must be wiped over with white spirit to remove surface oils which may inhibit drying and penetration of Rustins Door Oil. Minor damage/splits may be repaired/filled with Rustins Wood Filler.
Application: Using a brush or roller, apply evenly in the direction of grain. Rustins Wood Dye may be used under or in Rustins Door Oil if desired. Test before proceeding if other brands of wood colourant are to be used.
Coats: Apply a minimum of 2 coats initially.
Drying Time: 4 -6 hours, depending on temperature and humidity.
Re-coating Time: 4 -6 hours, depending on temperature and humidity.
Application Temp.: Ideally 15-25 deg. C. Do not apply below 5 deg. C.
Coverage: 20 – 30 sq. m. per litre, depending on the nature of the wood.
Maintenance: The door should be cleaned with a well-wrung cloth or mop, using a mild detergent solution. Dirt and scratches may be removed by rubbing with a plastic scouring pad. If the surface has become dull or worn, it may be refinished after cleaning.
Compatibility: Rustins Door Oil may be used over the following Rustins products: Rustins Wood Dye, Grain/Wood Filler. Rustins Wood Dye may be added to Rustins Door Oil. Rustins Polyurethane Varnish may be applied over Rustins Door Oil. Prior to using it is advisable to test a small area first. Rustins Door Oil has been tested on a wide range of veneered doors, but not all such doors available on the market. Refer to door manufacturer’s instructions for recommendations regarding suitable finishing products.
Settlement: Stir well before use.
Shelf-life/Storage: Many years in original sealed packaging if stored in cool, dry conditions.
Hazards: Flammable. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Use in a well-ventilated area. Keep out of reach of children. Keep away from sources of ignition – no smoking while using. Keep container tightly closed.
Clean-Up: Clean brushes with white spirit or Rustins Brush Cleaner if still wet. Hard brushes may be cleaned with Rustins Brush Restorer. Hardened oil may be removed using Rustins Strypit Paint & Varnish remover
Goods Return Procedure
At Trade Gear Limited (trading as Outdoor-Style.co.uk), we strive to offer excellent customer service. We want to make your rights as a consumer and our procedures as clear as possible. We want to make it as easy as possible for you to cancel/return orders or report faulty/missing products.
Right To Cancel Order & Return Goods
Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations (which replaced the Distance Selling Regulations), you have the right to cancel your order and return the goods for a refund within 14 days of receiving the goods, without giving a reason. (Bespoke and perishable products are excluded).
You must have your receipt and the goods must be in new, unused and undamaged condition, with all packaging.
To exercise your right to cancel, you must clearly inform us via email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or post (Suite 16 Stanley Grange, Earl of Derby Estate, Liverpool, L34 4AR) of your decision to cancel the contract, within the 14 day cancellation period.
To meet the cancellation deadline, it is sufficient for you to send the communication before the cancellation period has expired.
Order Cancellation & Returns Process
If you choose to exercise your right to cancel, you will need to bear the direct cost of returning the goods. This may involve either posting the goods yourself or paying a collection charge.
We will inform you of the returns address in our communication to you. This is separate to our registered office address. Please do not send goods to our registered office address, as this is our administration office, not where returns are processed. If you send goods back to our registered office address, the returns process may be delayed and you may be charged for carriage to send the goods to the correct address.
We will reimburse to you all payments received from you, including the costs of delivery (except for any supplementary costs if you chose a delivery option other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us). We may make a deduction from the reimbursement for loss in value of any goods supplied if the loss is the result of unnecessary handling by you.
We will refund you within 14 days of returning the items.
Reimbursement will be made using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless expressly agreed otherwise.
Faulty & Missing Products
If you discover, upon receipt of your order, that the goods are damaged, please notify us straight away by sending a photo and description to email@example.com. On receipt of the goods, they will be inspected to check for the fault. If agreed to be faulty, we can either repair or replace the goods under warranty or we can refund the amount to your account. If however we do not find the goods to be faulty, they will be returned to you at your cost.
If an item or component is missing, please locate the product name on our website, on your order confirmation or in the assembly instructions and notify us via the above email address. We will endeavour to resolve any issues as soon as possible by replacing or supplying any damaged or missing goods free of charge.
